The first revision rule entry is of highest precedence with decreasing order below. When configuring a component in structure with revision rule, latest revision of the component is considered first with a revision rule entry and then the older revisions are evaluated, till a match is found.

Darkest box represents highest priority both side. Thickest line evaluation is first. Green arrow denotes the match found for revision and evaluation stops there. Entry type should be same for a grouped entry. Working rule entry can be grouped together with different owning group or user.

When matching with this criterion, any match to the entries in this group will configure the revision. Click on group button. Click on Group Entries by Equal Precedence. For example, if you select the revision rule Latest Released to open an assembly,Solid Edge opens the assembly and searches for the latest released revision for all of the parts in the assembly structure.

Revision rules are very helpful in managing documents through the life of a project. The following are a few of the revision rules you can use when you open managed documents:. Opens the document and updates the links as they were last saved. You would use this rule to open documents until you get close to the completion of a project.

This is the default revision rule. As you near the completion of a project, you can use the Latest or Latest Released rule to open your assembly or draft document. When you use these rules, Solid Edge ignores the Always Synchronize Cache to Get the Latest Version of the Document option on the Manage tab and loads the appropriate revisions to the local cache.

Is there a way to change this? Anyone at least know if this is even possible so I can stop trying to figure it out and move on? There are some very good teamcenter experts that may be able to help you out. There is also a teamcenter forum on ENGtips but it does not get much traffic. Hmm if it's something that must be done in Teamcenter, I won't be able to do it anyways, as I have no admin control over it.

Was hoping there was some setting I was missing in the Teamcenter integration options or something.KNA asked a question. When I try to revise two of my Teamcenter item revisions, I receive the following message:. The business object "G We cannot figure out why this is happening. We have thousands of items in Teamcenter and have not run into this issue before. Does anyone have any ideas on how to root cause and resolve this so we can revise our item revision?

Can you include your syslog for this error? It might be more specific on the attribute that is having the error. If you are running 4-tier, you'll need to ask your TC Admin to grab it off the server for you. The syslog name changes for each session of Teamcenter.

If they can grab it for you then giving them the actual filename to look for will make it much easier on them. The location of the syslog is not on your machine as it would seem from the path shown, but the server. I usually ask for a screenshot of this info from the user. One point, it seems that someone created an item revision a long time ago to the revision we are trying to create A to B.

B existed at somepoint. Someone deleted Item rev B, but the datasets still exist at rev B. We have found them and renamed them to some other revision, but we are still getting the same error.

I am not sure if there are other dataset types or forms that have this revision level also, but maybe this is the issue? Is there a way to erase the old datasets from the database?

I just had a user encounter this issue and ran across this thread; in my case, the user had created a Revision, then decided to manually re-identify the Revision type we use three different Rev rules, each associated with a specific Release workflow type. The user had originally created a Production alpha Revision, then decided he only had time to process a Prototype numeric revision.

He re-identified the Revison attribute on the Item Rev and all child datasets and proceeded with his Prototype release. The error came when he later went to revise his released Prototype part to the initial Production revision.

Running "Purge" from the right click menu on the affected Item Revsion cleared the error, and now the user can successfully revise all affected parts.

Revision Rules – ya gotta love em

Our IT Administrator is out of the office. With new propagation rules in Teamcenter So you only have to assign a revision, instead of filling these values for each object individually and manually. A propagation rule is a rule that specifies to copy property values automatically from an instance of a source business object type to an instance of a destination business object type using a relationship or a property reference.

A propagation rule can be defined to propagate the project assignment automatically from the item revision to any dataset pasted to the item revision when a certain operation occurs. You can also propagate any number of other property values. You must simply create the rules to control what properties to propagate. You can also propagate forward or backward through multiple levels in the product structure. The following example illustrates how a project assignment can be propagated from one business object type to another using propagation rules.

In the example, rules are created to propagate the project assignment Project A on a Cpd0CollaborativeDesign business object type to other business object types. There is one rule for each level that the data must traverse. Do you have further questions regarding this topic? We invite you to an active exchange with other users Join our LinkedIn Group! More information about Teamcenter about Teamcenter Active Workspace.Workflow process refers to the automation of production procedures. In this, documents, information, or tasks are pass from one user to another. It passed in such a mode that it sets standard well defined according to the rules or actions.

For Example : An Automobile company decides to implement Part Testing Process workflow to shorten the testing time and strengthening business performance. A Part Testing Process workflow is created and initiated in Teamcenter. The workflow started against each revision of product against each version of parts.

Workflow process template is a design scheme for a workflow process. Workflow Designer concedes you to create both serial and parallel workflow process templates. The top-level task of every workflow process is referred to as the root task.

New Root Template Name box, kindly type a template name as per your need. Note: -Text should be a maximum of 32 characters. Pick the process or Task for the template type. Based on Root Template list, Pick an existing template. Select the template you want to delete from the Process Template. At the top of the task hierarchy tree, select the template. The task is the building block used to construct a workflow process template. Each task defines a Chain of actions, resources, rules used to complete that taskand each task is always in one of seven defined states.

Each instance of a task uses a task templateenabling you to use each task template as a blueprint for creating multiple tasks. The Do task is used to define actions for a user to complete. When this task is performed in a workflow process, it displays the required actions to the user in the Instruction box of the task.

To complete Do Task, the user must select the Complete checkbox. Example : — Suppose in workflow, you want the user to update some attribute of object attached as targetin this case we can use Do-Task in workflow.Naming rules define the data entry format for a business object property when the new object is created, for example, when you create a new Revision Revise or copy an existing Item.

Naming rules applied to the Item ID are only shown when the item is created on the New Document dialog box. Naming rules applied to a revision are shown at creation on the New Document dialog boxor when you revise the document on the Revise Document dialog box. Naming rules applied to the Item Name are available for edit after the document is created on the Upload Document dialog box which includes upload and check-in.

Naming rules consist of two components: a pattern and a counter. The pattern is a variable that defines the format Example: NNNNNand the counter is used to define the increment each time it is used. When naming rules are applied to these two properties, at least one pattern is defined, the pattern can be conditional, and the pattern is governed by a generator.

The naming and number pattern list is populated with the applicable value for the selected Item Type. The Item Name and Item Revision Name properties can have more than one pattern defined, the pattern can be conditional, but the pattern is not governed by a generator. Naming rule patterns are composed of literal strings of characters, lists of patterns using lists of values LOVs as literal variables, and pattern variables composed of existing naming rules.

Each pattern can consist of combinations of the following:. The next character to have a literal meaning. This character is only required when using delimiters inside of other delimiters. Allows names to be validated, not generated, using standard regular expressions. This delimiter cannot be used in a pattern that automatically generates counters. For example, the pattern for an Item ID with two uppercase alphabetic characters followed by one digit is AAn. Once a naming rule pattern has been created, it must be attached to the business object property.

Buttons in the cells of common property dialog boxes such as the New Document dialog box communicate the details of the valid patterns for that row or column. Only implemented in the Revision column on a required property that is configured with a revision naming rule from an exhaustive list of values.

Only implemented in the Revision column on a required property that is configured with a revision naming rule from a suggestive list of values. When the button is clicked, a message box is displayed containing the available pattern details for that row or column. A revision naming rule is a business rule that defines the naming convention and sequence for the revision property. This functionality is sometimes used to satisfy the strict naming requirements demanded by some industries.

When revision naming rules are created, you have the option to exclude the characters I, O, Q, S, X, Z from a revision. These characters are commonly omitted in the aerospace industry.
